The Hierarchy panel displays information about a method selected in the Summary panel or the All methods panel.
The Hierarchy panel also shows information about parent and child methods. You can navigate through the hierarchy of methods by clicking a method in the Parents or the Children list; clicking a method makes it the current method. This is useful for inspecting the child methods of a slow method, or inspecting the parent method of a slow method.
The following information is shown for each parent or child method:
- Method name is the name of the method
- Time (sec.) is the total execution time of the method in seconds, excluding the time taken to execute child methods
- Time with children (sec.) is the total execution time of the method in seconds, including the time taken to execute child methods
- Hit count is the number of times the method was executed, excluding inlined calls
- Assembly* is the full name of the assembly that contains the method
- Average time (sec.)* is the average execution time of the method in seconds, excluding the time taken to execute child methods
- Average time with children (sec.)* is the average execution time of the method in seconds, including the time taken to execute child methods
- Maximum time (sec.)* is the maximum execution time of the method in seconds, including the time taken to execute child methods
- Minimum time (sec.)* is the minimum execution time of the method in seconds, including the time taken to execute child methods
- Module file* is the full path of the module that contains the method
- Module version ID* is the unique module version ID; each time an assembly is compiled, a new module version ID is created.
- Namespace* is the namespace of the method
- Source file* is the name of the source file that contains the definition of the method
* These columns are not displayed by default; see Customizing the columns.

Note that in the Parents list, indicates that the method was inlined into the parent method.
